Rosmarinus officinalis 'Prostrata'

Rosmarinus officinalis 'Prostrata'

Common Name:

Prostrate Rosemary, Creeping Rosemary, Groundcover Rosemary

Description:

A vigorous groundcover with a wiry habit. Foliage has a pleasant aroma especially when crushed.

Flower:

Small deep blue flowers cover the plant during summer.

Size:

Mounding habit of 30cm x 1.5m. Can be trimmed to retain required size.

Growing Conditions:

Rosemary requires a sunny spot and free draining soil. They are happy in coastal and exposed gardens and are not too fussy about soil quality.

Care:

Prune regularly to retain size and shape; this will also help keep it nice and bushy. Although they are drought tolerant, a good soaking during the warmer months will be appreciated.

Uses:

· Great groundcover for sunny areas. Will spill over a retaining wall or bank.

· You can use the leaves for culinary purposes, so grow it in a pot on the deck where you have easy access to it. Also good for repelling sand flies: crush some leaves and rub onto skin. Soak in baby oil first for easier application.

Plants are grown in 9cm pots.
